Why Half Past Normal

Half Past Normal began as a way of paying closer attention.

These photographs are less about destinations than the moments between them: quiet streets before they fill, changing light through old trees, reflections on still water, and places that ask you to stop a little longer.

Each image is part of an ongoing photographic journal, collected over years of walking, travelling and simply noticing. Together they tell a quiet story about the world and the small moments that go unnoticed.

A duck pauses on the edge of a fountain at RHS Garden Wisley in Surrey. Framed by moving water, leafy arches and visitors wandering through the gardens, the photograph captures the easy pace of a quiet spring afternoon.
